Solitude

Abandoned in the Field

Solitary barn in a fallow field. Spring is as late coming to central Iowa as it is to Wisconsin. No signs of greening in the fields, except for a little winter wheat. And this photo was taken 150 miles south of Madison.

About Bo Mackison

I'm a photographer, book-artist, traveler, naturalist, and creator of the Contemplative Creatives Journey, An Online Workshop and Community and Desert Wisdom Cards and Workshops. Though often not well known, I find the desert a welcoming place - a healing space. Its mysteries and gifts transformed me several years ago. Since that first encounter, I return again and again to fill my well in what most people think of as a desolate region. I'd love to share my desert discoveries and wisdom with you. Please subscribe to receive my five part mini email course The Gifts of the Desert. It's my gift to you.

  1. This is another of your very interesting photos. Instead of simply looking nice (and your photos always look nice), they lead me to think and wonder. Where does that road lead? The road takes my eye one way and the barn sends my eye in a different direction. I’m very intrigued by the shot.

I like it! It makes me wonder who put it there and why in exactly that spot? And what will it look like with summertime activity?

  5. It took me a day of looking at this over and over… haunting isn’t it? I approve of the sepia decision. Once again your showing off your brilliant eye for architecture!

  6. This is a very moody photo, I like the tone.
