About Bo Mackison

I'm a photographer, book-artist, traveler, naturalist, and creator of the Contemplative Creatives Journey, An Online Workshop and Community and Desert Wisdom Cards and Workshops. Though often not well known, I find the desert a welcoming place - a healing space. Its mysteries and gifts transformed me several years ago. Since that first encounter, I return again and again to fill my well in what most people think of as a desolate region. I'd love to share my desert discoveries and wisdom with you. Please subscribe to receive my five part mini email course The Gifts of the Desert. It's my gift to you.

  1. That is a brilliant shot – I know I know people say that all the time (especially me) but really and for true. I’m not sure what kind of contract you made with the birds to all be in the same direction (I could almost hear a frustrated photographer, “all the seed you want now come on guys… no no you get the seeds after you pose! now get in formation!) I love this with a capital L! Beautiful!

  2. Another beautiful photo!

  3. I agree with Aullori – just how did you get the birds to do that? I’d suspect a bribe with chocolate doughnuts, but …

The pattern of the trees and the birds against the sky leap off the page. The image is powerful. The piece from McCartney is a soulful touch.

  4. Postcard perfect :)!!

  8. This is exquisite I love the dark silhouette against the light, and I love the line movement..even the birds.

    Hmmm…seven birds..7 is a mystic or sacred number. 🙂

I like the lyric choice too (now I have that song running in my mind…not a bad song to replay though…eh?)

    Magic lense again, Bo!

  9. I saw this photo today and wanted to leave a comment but didn’t have a chance. So here I am again. It’s a great image. Evocative.

Fascinating! I love the golden sky. I don’t know how you got that color, but it works beautifully with the black trees and birds.
