Books of the Desert – Book Title Poetry

Here is the poetry challenge: use book titles to create haiku-like poems.

I have a limited resources in Arizona home library, but since I was writing poetry about the desert and I have a large collection of desert-themed books, there were lots of combinations. Here are a few of my favorites.

desert time

what wildness is this

the solace of open spaces
healing spaces

gathering the desert

music of silence

desert solitaire

the desert smells like rain
the sweet smell of home

Posting a desert-themed poem each day in April as part of National Poetry Month.

I'm a photographer, book-artist, traveler, naturalist, and creator of the Contemplative Creatives Journey, An Online Workshop and Community and Desert Wisdom Cards and Workshops. Though often not well known, I find the desert a welcoming place - a healing space. Its mysteries and gifts transformed me several years ago. Since that first encounter, I return again and again to fill my well in what most people think of as a desolate region. I'd love to share my desert discoveries and wisdom with you.
