Brocach – The Badger Den

Brocach - Gaelic for Badger Den

For those of you not intimate with University of Wisconsin sports, the UW-Madison teams are the Badgers. As in “Go, Wisconsin Badgers!”

Brocach is the Gaelic word for Badger Den. What a great name for a Madison pub on the Capitol Square, just across the street from the State Capitol building.

This wonderful bagpiper was playing at Saturday’s Farmers Market.

About Bo Mackison

I'm a photographer, book-artist, traveler, naturalist, and creator of the Contemplative Creatives Journey, An Online Workshop and Community and Desert Wisdom Cards and Workshops. Though often not well known, I find the desert a welcoming place - a healing space. Its mysteries and gifts transformed me several years ago. Since that first encounter, I return again and again to fill my well in what most people think of as a desolate region. I'd love to share my desert discoveries and wisdom with you. Please subscribe to receive my five part mini email course The Gifts of the Desert. It's my gift to you.

  1. Very cool photo, Bo. I love the reflection.

  2. Looks like the kind of place I’d like to have a beverage (probably not a milkshake) & food. I’d second Robin’s observation – cool photo.

I’ve got to agree with Robin, the reflection is really nice. It’s actually my favorite part of the whole photograph.

  4. That is the coolest capture!!!! I like that the bagpipe player was captured from behind with his reflection in the window. And that is a great reflection. I love photos like this.

    Excellent, Bo. 🙂

  5. I LOVE bagpipes! This is a great photo, too. But, I also noticed that you managed to “steer clear” of getting your own reflection in the glass … (no one there with a camera)! 😀

  6. Robin – If it’s a reflection or a shadow, I have a hard time passing by. LOL

gandalf – If you were any where near, I’d personally buy you an Irish ale, m’ lad!

    Chris – Thanks.

Anna -He saw me in the window, though, and turned around for a moment.

Janet – Mmm. Trade secret, me hiding in the mirror.
