About Bo Mackison

I'm a photographer, book-artist, traveler, naturalist, and creator of the Contemplative Creatives Journey, An Online Workshop and Community and Desert Wisdom Cards and Workshops. Though often not well known, I find the desert a welcoming place - a healing space. Its mysteries and gifts transformed me several years ago. Since that first encounter, I return again and again to fill my well in what most people think of as a desolate region. I'd love to share my desert discoveries and wisdom with you. Please subscribe to receive my five part mini email course The Gifts of the Desert. It's my gift to you.

  1. Very cool, Bo! I like the pattern the rocks are making around the plants. It almost looks like an “S” over to the right.

  2. There is just something about rocks….

I wanted to be a geologist when I grew up. Even had a geology lab when I was about 11. Tested the hardness of rocks, cataloged them, that kind of scientific curiosity. Still have it, I suppose… 🙂

  3. Ahh. I see you are in your succulent phase. 🙂 I love the pattern.

  4. Such wonderful texture and color. Almost as if it is ‘planned chaos’. Great eye!!

  5. I can see how that attracted you to it. That’s a very nice photo too! We have some of those plants in one of our flower beds, but not the great looking rocks.

I love hens and chicks, but it was the blue rocks that kept me shooting — about 50 shots… LOL!

  7. This is a wonderful capture of the rock garden with hens and chicks. Well worth the 50 shots for this one. 🙂

  8. Yup! I would have spent time with this wonderful subject too. Love it!

  9. Fascinating. Love those blue rocks. It amazes me how you see opportunity for an awesome photo everywhere. Takes a different eye or someone with a different outlook on nature, I would imagine. Seeing something others don’t?
