About Bo Mackison

I'm a photographer, book-artist, traveler, naturalist, and creator of the Contemplative Creatives Journey, An Online Workshop and Community and Desert Wisdom Cards and Workshops. Though often not well known, I find the desert a welcoming place - a healing space. Its mysteries and gifts transformed me several years ago. Since that first encounter, I return again and again to fill my well in what most people think of as a desolate region. I'd love to share my desert discoveries and wisdom with you. Please subscribe to receive my five part mini email course The Gifts of the Desert. It's my gift to you.

  1. I love the center of the flower, surrounded by the golden petals. Lovely work. I, too, resonate with O’Keefe.
Thank you for visiting my blog. I’m still catching up after my trip. Sorry not to have visited your site in a while.

Glad you had a good trip. I spent the last week traveling too — hard to keep up with a blog when on the road, so I sure understand. These little poppies are such a grand surprise when they pop in the desert. They make my heart sing!

  2. Gorgeous, and the focus is incredible.

Thanks, Kimberly. I was hand holding – no tripod on my long hikes! – so I was pleased with the focus. Poppies are grand subjects.

  3. Gorgeous gold colors and tones. So perfect to warm a winter’s day. And – I love the Georgia O’Keefe quote. YES!!!

Golden poppies to reflect the golden sun — pretty fine in the desert. And I love Georgia O’Keeffe’s take on her art. She was born in a small town just a few miles from Madison — Sun Prairie!

  4. Georgia was so wise and so willing to let nature flow through her.
The detail on this photo is just lovely!

  5. How beautiful!

  6. Ah, that Georgia. Such a gifted, remarkable woman. Love this little bit of sunshine today, Bo!
