Sometimes goals almost within reach, as near as an outstretched hand. Sometimes goals are lofty, and seemingly as unreachable as the stars twinkling throughout the Universe.

Sometimes goals are in vivid colors — bright and eye-catching, appealing. Sometimes goals are in gray-scale — black, white, and every tone in between. They don’t call out for attention, but all the details are there if you look closely.

Goals may be easily attainable or require a lifetime of planning, but I’m learning this. When I take a big goal and break it into small, doable steps, it is achievable — as long as I am willing to show up and do the work.

I’m evaluating her 2011 goals for the first half of the year and considering new goals for the last half of 2011.

About Bo Mackison

I'm a photographer, book-artist, traveler, naturalist, and creator of the Contemplative Creatives Journey, An Online Workshop and Community and Desert Wisdom Cards and Workshops. Though often not well known, I find the desert a welcoming place - a healing space. Its mysteries and gifts transformed me several years ago. Since that first encounter, I return again and again to fill my well in what most people think of as a desolate region. I'd love to share my desert discoveries and wisdom with you. Please subscribe to receive my five part mini email course The Gifts of the Desert. It's my gift to you.

Thanks, Anita. I loved seeing the layers upon layers of flowers when I looked through this tree towards the sky.

  4. Great colors and DOF. I find my eye shifting between the close up and the background. Loved it.

Yes, those bright magenta blossoms are great against the blue. I love the combination, too.

Very wise advice, Bo. And a stunningly beautiful photo, look at those different shades of pink in front of the gorgeous blue sky!

If you have ever had a goal to become an amazing photographer, you’ve achieved that goal! 🙂

Joanne, thank you. My first photographic goal was to pick up a camera I had barely used, take a photo a day and post it on a blog for a year. I thought that would give me a focus I desperately needed, and help me prove to myself that I was a capable human being. I just happened to get in plenty of practice, too. And I got hooked on photography, and the passion just kept growing and growing and growing…
