Monday Morning Reflections

Empty Benches, Everyone's Working in Their Offices

I was wandering the streets of Madison, camera in hand looking for a subject to photograph, when I saw a woman watching me from a window on an upper floor of an office building. It was Monday morning, the first Monday in May, and spring had finally popped. The splendor of a sunny day and the trees all in blossom surrounded me.

I wondered if she was just day dreaming or if she was wishing she could trade places.

Then I noticed this piece of public art in the plaza. The knots reminded me of the way I would get tied up in knots when I was working an inside job and had a deadline approaching. Not one bit sorry I carry a camera now, and not a briefcase full of papers.

Though often not well known, I find the desert a welcoming place - a healing space. Its mysteries and gifts transformed me several years ago. Since that first encounter, I return again and again to fill my well in what most people think of as a desolate region. I'd love to share my desert discoveries and wisdom with you.
