Mostly Cloudy

Strawberry Island

Strawberry Island

Still doing photos from last summer. How did I ever manage to get such a backlog? This photo is from a cloudy, windy August day in northeastern Wiscosnin’s Door County. I spent a long afternoon sitting on the beach watching the clouds drift over Strawberry Island. I remember thinking everyone else was in such a hurry to go see something, go do something. I was pretty satisfied doing what I was doing — thinking about “stuff” and watching the clouds drift by. Once in awhile I’d pick up my camera and take a couple of photos.

Aren’t those clouds something to behold?

  2. The most gorgeous cloud-scape. Can’t imagine wanting to do anything more on a beautiful summer’s day..other than watch the clouds drift by.

  3. thats a really lovely picture 🙂

  4. Nice pix. Did you have a nice cold beer to go with your musings on that wonderful summmer day?

  5. Gandalf– Sherpa has the beer, I stick with Diet Coke . . . or tequila when I’m in that kind of mood. 🙂

  6. Beautiful capture, Bo!

  7. Clouds can make or break an image. They certainly make this image! Great catch. 🙂

  8. Very dramatic clouds–although I can see a dog liking his mustachioed master if I kind of squint on the two clouds on the far right.

Sigh. I want to sit on the beach, think about “stuff” and watch beautiful clouds like this! So nice. How did you process this one? A little HDR action of some sort?

  10. This is beautiful in black & white dramatizing the clouds. I love cloudscapes. 🙂

  11. Sometimes I find myself watching the clouds go by without thinking much at all. When you can find such enjoyment from doing so little… I think you are on to something. Then life kicks in and off you go again.

  12. Gorgeous, Bo!

  13. feels like everything’s in motion

  14. really something.

    🙂

I’m not sure what took me so long to comment on this photograph… it’s dramatic, beautiful and well suited for black and white. Well done.

  16. beautiful clouds!
