November and Nothingness

November © 2010 Bo Mackison

November is all about this world wasting away, vanishing, and about us getting used to the nothingness, used to saying good bye.  ~ Vivian Swift

On Decluttering:  I may choose never to declutter the interior of my home. Not when nature does such an obsessive job of decluttering the out of doors in November. All that was lush and green, all the gardens that were thick with a multitude of colorful flowers, all gone. Just gone. My outdoors world is now wearing the fashionable look of uncluttered. My maple and oak trees are bare.

No. No inside decluttering for me right now. I need a little clutter in my life, and my outsides are feeling all too barren.

About Bo Mackison

I'm a photographer, book-artist, traveler, naturalist, and creator of the Contemplative Creatives Journey, An Online Workshop and Community and Desert Wisdom Cards and Workshops. Though often not well known, I find the desert a welcoming place - a healing space. Its mysteries and gifts transformed me several years ago. Since that first encounter, I return again and again to fill my well in what most people think of as a desolate region. I'd love to share my desert discoveries and wisdom with you. Please subscribe to receive my five part mini email course The Gifts of the Desert. It's my gift to you.

  1. Of course. I knew there was a reason I like clutter. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Bo. Not many people I can tell that I like dust. I think YOU would understand.

  2. Angie Willis says

Yes, nature is doing minimalism at the moment. But it’s still beautiful, to which your lovely image attests.

Minimalism…such a proper way of addressing the depths of darkness approaching. Maybe I need to shape up my attitude. 🙂

  3. I love that philosophy. And if you saw my office, you’d see that it’s one I put into practice all year long! 🙂

  4. For parts of nature, life is so simple yet so effective, but there is a strategy too in the clutter of leaves on the ground.

  5. Indeed bare, and great representation and perspective with the photo. There are times when one needs to be bare, and other times cluttered comfort close suits.

Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

  6. That’s a very interesting way of looking at things, Bo. I must ponder that for a bit. Your photo is indeed perfect for your prose. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

  7. Great perspective, the thoughts and the photo.
