Self-Portrait

Self Portrait

Self Portrait © 2008 Bo Mackison

Actually a portrait of my Sherpa and me. Ambling along the streets of Madison, always on the lookout for a shot. Paying attention to anything and everything. So much to see and absorb, and so much more I see with that darn camera in my hands.

Now I’m working on paying attention, being mindful, when I am sitting quietly, even without my friendly prop, the camera.  Being grateful. Being compassionate. Being happy. Concentrating on the present. Making a difference in small ways – I’m figuring it will add up in the long run.

About Bo Mackison

I'm a photographer, book-artist, traveler, naturalist, and creator of the Contemplative Creatives Journey, An Online Workshop and Community and Desert Wisdom Cards and Workshops. Though often not well known, I find the desert a welcoming place - a healing space. Its mysteries and gifts transformed me several years ago. Since that first encounter, I return again and again to fill my well in what most people think of as a desolate region. I'd love to share my desert discoveries and wisdom with you. Please subscribe to receive my five part mini email course The Gifts of the Desert. It's my gift to you.

  2. very intriguing photo.

  3. Neat shot. I normally don’t allow myself to get caught in a reflection. LOL The camera has taught me to pay attention, and I see like I have never before… with and without the camera. 🙂

  4. Interesting shot! I know what you mean by seeing more while carrying a camera.
