Sunlit Dahlia Bud

Dahlia Bud at Olbrich Gardens in Madison Wisconsin

Sunlit Dahlia Bud © 2010 Bo Mackison

Just as the sun was setting, the light cast soft golden tones on this single Dahlia bud. Photographed on my third trip to Olbrich Gardens in the past three days.  Soon they may put me to work there!

About Bo Mackison

I'm a photographer, book-artist, traveler, naturalist, and creator of the Contemplative Creatives Journey, An Online Workshop and Community and Desert Wisdom Cards and Workshops. Though often not well known, I find the desert a welcoming place - a healing space. Its mysteries and gifts transformed me several years ago. Since that first encounter, I return again and again to fill my well in what most people think of as a desolate region. I'd love to share my desert discoveries and wisdom with you. Please subscribe to receive my five part mini email course The Gifts of the Desert. It's my gift to you.

  1. Lovely, lovely time (and place!) to take pictures. This is a nice shot. You can almost feel the bud soaking in the sun.

  2. I love it. Looks like it’s puckering up for a big kiss. 🙂

  3. I can almost feel the warmth. It’s funny – I had never heard of this flower before your recent posts. I think they are becoming a favorite. Educating me through photographs! 🙂

  4. Nice! “The star of the show”

  5. Oh..this one is absolutely exquisite. Love the light. WOW!
