Autumn is Yellow at Devils Lake State Park

Autumn is Yellow at Devils Lake State Park

I like spring, but it is too young. I like summer, but it is too proud. So I like best of all autumn, because its tone is mellower, its colours are richer, and it is tinged with a little sorrow. Its golden richness speaks not of the innocence of spring, nor the power of summer, but of the mellowness and kindly wisdom of approaching age. It knows the limitations of life and its content.~~ Lin Yutang

About Bo Mackison

I'm a photographer, book-artist, traveler, naturalist, and creator of the Contemplative Creatives Journey, An Online Workshop and Community and Desert Wisdom Cards and Workshops. Though often not well known, I find the desert a welcoming place - a healing space. Its mysteries and gifts transformed me several years ago. Since that first encounter, I return again and again to fill my well in what most people think of as a desolate region. I'd love to share my desert discoveries and wisdom with you. Please subscribe to receive my five part mini email course The Gifts of the Desert. It's my gift to you.

  1. The budding genius here was about to ask what the blue stuff was. DUH! Thank God I figured it out before looking REALLY STUPID! For some reason, at first glance, it looked a lot like they were patches of blue leaves. Oh well. I really like the perspective and colors here in this image, BO. Good work.
