Tiny Orchids in Brown – Orchids at Bolz Conservatory

Tiny Orchid - Brown

Tiny Orchids in Brown © 2011 Bo Mackison

A tiny orchid, each flower is  little larger than a quarter, on exhibit at the Bolz Conservatory, a tropical paradise plopped in the middle of snowy Wisconsin’s Olbrich Botanical Gardens. While the outside gardens are deep in sleep, readying themselves for the spring show, these pampered tropical botanicals are showing off in grand style.

I DO wish I had been more mindful, and shot the ID sign next to these flowers, but I was so enthralled with the color, the composition, the basket weave background, that by the time I had a photo worth keeping, remembering to document the species was the last thing on my mind.

About Bo Mackison

I'm a photographer, book-artist, traveler, naturalist, and creator of the Contemplative Creatives Journey, An Online Workshop and Community and Desert Wisdom Cards and Workshops. Though often not well known, I find the desert a welcoming place - a healing space. Its mysteries and gifts transformed me several years ago. Since that first encounter, I return again and again to fill my well in what most people think of as a desolate region. I'd love to share my desert discoveries and wisdom with you. Please subscribe to receive my five part mini email course The Gifts of the Desert. It's my gift to you.

Comments

  1. Beautiful composition. The flowers seem to be floating.

  2. They’re so exquisitely beautiful. Such wonderful color and detail.

  3. They are gorgeous and so is your photo!

  4. Gorgeous little things, aren’t they?

I almost always forget to shoot the ID. That’s why most of my flowers are labeled “unidentified,” which seems like a species unto itself now. 😉
