Two Shadows on Halloween

click Two kinds of shadows today. The first, a shadowy tree trunk photo for Halloween. This is nearly the last autumn color left in my neck of the woods. (Sorry, bad pun!) Most of the color has changed into crunchy brown on the forest floor, but this clump of trees posed for an early morning shot today. Photographed at Owen Park, a Madison Conservation Park in Madison, Wisconsin.

see Sadly, while I was hiking I saw two steam shovels leveling land for a subdivision 100 yards from the trail. They cast the second shadow, a shadow on my spirit. Soon we’ll have nothing left to conserve but concrete. Go, progress! (Go away, that is.)
