Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That’s how the light gets in.
The link is to the song on YouTube. Interesting, thought-provoking lyrics, interesting talk-sing voice. I love the line “forget your perfect offering.” I don’t usually post a lot of quotes on one post, but I kept finding quotes about imperfection that I wanted to remember, and this seemed like a good place for this compilation. It is a good thing to remember — no one is perfect. Imperfect is human, humans are imperfect.
Both our senses and our passions are a supply to the imperfection of our nature; thus they show that we are such sort of creatures as to stand in need of those helps which higher orders of creatures do not. ~ Joseph Butler
I agree hOle hartedlEE with your obserVatons on iMperFectun. 🙂 Great post.
Funny how you wrote this yesterday, for yesterday I enjoyed a deep discussion with an important friend about my own personal, imperfect path. MY path. Seems I keep wanting to walk on someone else’s path instead of staying on my own – my constant battle of putting Me first instead of others. As the discussion unfolded we chatted about just how each individual path twists and turns, how roots stick up and branches hang down just waiting to catch a foot or grab our hair. How mud and water collect in pockets that must be avoided, but in doing so we see something new. Imperfection grows our souls. This is such a good post for me to read today. Thanks, dear.
I love Leonard Cohen, especially his poem “Dance Me to the End of Love” (which will likely be featured in one of my upcoming posts).
Great post with great reminders, Bo. THank you. 🙂
