The orchids are in full bloom in the Bolz Conservatory at Olbrich Botanical Gardens in Madison. I went into this tropical paradise to escape the snow and cold, and ended up with some wonderful botanical subjects and I found a peaceful setting that calmed my racing heart, and my racing around as I get ready for my (half) a cross country trip.
One of the nicest things about living in Wisconsin. No matter what direction you go to explore the United States, a destination in the 48 contiguous states is never more than a half country away. No cross country trips for me!
Beautiful, Bo. 🙂
That’s one of the reasons I like botanical gardens so much. When it’s cold and dry you can step inside to warm up and enjoy some humidity in the air. (Funny, but I don’t appreciate the humidity nearly as much during the summer months!)
I love the tropical conservatory, too. My favorite place in Madison in winter, but even when it is really cold out, it can get too warm inside. I always make sure to wear light clothing, or I have to leave before I want.
No, summer humidity just isn’t the same!
During these frigid, gray wintery days visions of purple orchids can only make one glad to be alive. Thanks for sharing this vision with us – much needed for our souls!
Gorgeous, aren’t they? Yes, definitely soul inspiration.
Your last three posts of orchid photos have been just beautiful, Bo. I do wish I had your photography skills! I must learn; it will take away the effort of having to simply memorise all of the beauty in the world!
Thanks, Joanne. The orchids are great subjects, makes the photography lots of fun! Especially when I take time out and sit on one of the conservatory benches, just taking in the tropical scenes!
Orchids are so gorgeous! Other than the wild ones that I find here in summer, the nearest orchids are in a botanical garden 500 miles away.
These are incredibly beautiful!
Terry – Montucky – told me to visit you…
Glad I did!
Beautiful subject. Warms up a bit of a snowy day.
