Here’s to endings and new beginnings.

Cosmos ( the flower’s name) is the opposite of chaos. Wishes to all for less chaos and more harmony in the coming year. So many possibilities, all waiting to unfold…

Happy New Year!

(The last two parts of my New Year alphabet will be in the next two posts…)

Dewy Geranium

There aren’t a lot of flowers in my perennial garden in the backyard. When I went garden strolling early this morning, there were a few spikes of lavender, some raggedy purple coneflowers, quite wabi-sabi, and several geraniums that were soaked in dew, but the dew couldn’t hide those brilliant purple geranium colors.

The flowers that are faithful bloomers in September bloomed in August, and now the fall flowers are blooming in September. The trees are beginning to turn. As I look out my studio window, the leaves that were green only a week ago are fading into a yellow-green and some are already bright yellow.

What are we going to have for color in October?

This Brown Eyed Susan was photographed last week at Allen Centennial Gardens on the University of Wisconsin campus in Madison.

Autumn is fast approaching. Last week, Wisconsin had temperatures hovering in the low 90s. This week the thermometer is registering in the low 60s.

Suddenly I’ve discovered I don’t have to rush out of the house in the early mornings and late evenings to see what newest flowers are blooming in the many nearby gardens. The autumn flowers are blooming, even the purple asters which usually don’t bloom until October.

So this seems like an appropriate photo for the season. Yellows, rusts, browns – the palette of autumn. Sunflower photographed at Allen Centennial Gardens in Madison, Wisconsin.

I’m posting another photograph of ‘Esther’ dahlia, easily my favorite flower of the year. She has posed for me many times this summer.

‘Esther’ will be on display along with many of my botanical photographs this weekend at the Festival of the Arts in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Seeded Earth Photography will be on the road again, as we head to Glen Ellyn, a northwest suburb of Chicago. The art show is in Lake Ellyn Park and open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, August 28-29.

If you are in the area, be sure and stop by Seeded Earth’s booth and say hello. I’d love to show you my photography.

If you live nowhere near Chicago, and you are interested in purchasing my photography, you can easily do so. Nearly all the photos I post on the Seeded Earth blog are available for purchase.
