A Floral Holiday

Not only were there a multitude of flying and perched origami birds at the Holiday Show at the Olbrich Botanical Gardens. Living up to its name, the botanicals were also in abundance. Scattered red amaryllis were set amidst huge beds of white poinsettias.

A trip to my local Botanical Gardens to see the Holiday Show. I was thrilled to see that there were origami birds tucked in dozens of branches – doves, cardinals, blue jays, even a bald eagle. This bright red cardinal is one of my favorites. Third in the series.

A trip to my local Botanical Gardens brought a sense of delight. Perched in tree after tree were paper birds – doves, cardinals, blue jays, even a bald eagle. Second in a series.

I photographed this unusual flower, or at least this unusually named flower. I guess to someone, this flower looked like a bird. In Paradise, no less.

Supposedly it does resemble the real bird of paradise, a tropical bird found in New Guinea. Hmm. Paradise?

I fell in love with this tiny rose bud when I saw it on my garden walk. It seemed as if it was both providing protection, and yet offering promise.
